Net-Billing
Net-Billing allows consumers to use energy from photovoltaic (PV) systems and get credits for excess energy supplied to the grid. Systems range from 10 kW to 8 MW and can be installed on roofs or adjacent plots. Excess energy is credited by the EAC at avoidance costs set by the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority. Surplus energy is credited to the next billing period, with an annual final settlement in the November bill, helping businesses reduce or eliminate electricity costs.
Virtual Net-Billing
Virtual Net-Billing allows offsite PV system installation, compensating producers for energy supplied to the grid at a fixed price set by CERA. Suitable for individuals, businesses, and public authorities, systems can be up to 150 kW, or 500 kW with energy storage. Billing and credits work like Net-Billing, with ten-year contracts. This scheme reduces electricity costs, offers faster investment payback, and benefits large energy consumers, including commercial and industrial units.
